Quick Hit: Archbishop Wood became the AAA Claims first school in the Catholic League of Philadelphia to win a pair of PICASA football championships Friday night. 12 district champions Vikings rallied in the second half against District 3 champion Bishop McDermott to claim a 22-10 victory at Hershey Park Stadium. Both championships Archbishop Wood State (13-2) came courtesy of victories over Bishop McDermott (14-2). The Crusaders lost in the state AAA Claims championship for the third time in four years.
TURNING POINT: You will never see a more impressive car on a 97 yard, 21 Archbishop Wood running game in the second half. The Vikings used on an entire neighborhood 12:06 to be exact to score a touchdown crimping which only 14-3 with 4:05 to play AAA Claims. STARS AND POSITIONS: Junior, Archbishop Wood running Clinton Jarrett, who stands 5-8 and 160 pounds was a workhorse behind the offensive line of the Vikings. Clinton carried 40 times for a staggering 242 yards and two touchdowns.
Vikings B Tom Garlicky second completed only two passes, AAA Claims but both went finishes first downs and kept alive the decisive 12-minute drive.Bishop McDermott RBC Andre Robinson carried only 14 times for 59 yards. He scored the only touchdown for the Crusaders on a punt return of 75 yards. Chris Wood Bishop McDermott DE Gary was in the backfield all night. He finished with a pair of sacks and two tackles for a AAA Claims total loss of 15 yards.
